Sage & Egg Energy Cleansing: A Spiritual Practice for Renewal and Balance

At Temple Heights Spiritual Camp, we recognize that many people find comfort and meaning in spiritual practices that encourage reflection, healing, and renewal. Sage cleansing and egg cleansing are traditional spiritual rituals used by many cultures to symbolically release stagnant or heavy energy and restore a sense of balance and peace.

Sage Cleansing

Sage cleansing, also known as smoke cleansing, is performed by gently passing the smoke of sacred herbs around the body while holding a prayer or healing intention. Many believe the smoke helps clear stagnant energy, release emotional burdens, and create a peaceful space for healing and spiritual connection.

Egg Energy Cleansing

An egg energy cleanse, often called a limpia, is a traditional spiritual practice in which fresh eggs are gently passed over the body from head to toe while focusing on prayer, healing, and positive intention. In many traditions, the egg is believed to symbolically absorb heavy or stagnant energy and energetic blockages.

After the cleansing, the eggs are taken outside and thrown to the ground as a symbolic act of release. This final step represents letting go of what no longer serves you, returning that energy to the earth for transformation and renewal.
