Temple Heights Spiritual Camp (THSC) was founded in 1882 by Benjamin Colson, affectionately known as “Dr. Ben”. He was not a licensed doctor, but rather a simple country man, who practiced natural and spiritual healing. He was guided by the spirit of an indigenous Chief named Nickawa, of a South American tribe. Nickawa came to be Ben’s spirit guide after an illness that put him in a coma. Nickawa taught Ben his language and the healing techniques of his tribe. Ben hired an artist to draw a portrait of Nickawa and that portrait hangs in the lodge’s largest meeting room.
There is a rich and storied history of THSC as it has been serving spiritualists and spiritual seekers for nearly a century and a half. THSC is a cozy and rustic lodge and the temple building overlooking the picturesque Penobscot Bay.
We have been blessed by the services of Mediums and Healers from our local region, nationally and internationally. Each camp season provides private sessions of mediumship and healing, along with educational workshops.
All monies collected through services, gift sales and donations are used to operate, maintain, and preserve our historic camp.
We foster an atmosphere of fellowship for likeminded people and welcome all regardless of where they are on their spiritual journey.
THSC governing board of directors are:
President: Graham Connolly (acting)
Vice President: Rose Osbourne (acting)
Treasurer: Jeanne Bower
Secretary: Phyllis Kenney (acting)
Directors: Norma Biagiotti, Rev. Nancy Parry, Laura Bower, Judith Swift and Terri Toner
We have a lodgekeeper in residence during the camp season
who manages the daily operations of the camp.
Volunteers are always needed! Earn Camp credit for your time. Please view Policies before volunteering. Thank you!
